Design Lead, From the First Question to a Working Prototype.
Spyhop is a concept project for a private investment tracker on iPhone and desktop. It is built around one question: when a holding moves sharply, how unusual is that move, and what has tended to follow?
A spyhop is a whale rising to look around, and the product works the same way: look first, then act.

The Problem
A Big Number with No Context Feels Urgent, Even When It Isn’t.
Most price alerts show a single green or red figure with no context. A large move looks urgent whether it is rare or routine, so the natural response is to react rather than judge.
01
Context Over Alerts
Every significant move is shown against its own history. When SHOP rises 11.2% in a day, Spyhop shows that a move of that size has happened eight times since 2016, and that the price kept rising in five of them.
02
Private by Default
Holdings stay on the device. There is no account and no broker login. Portfolios are imported from a CSV or entered by hand.
03
Two Currencies, Never Blended
Canadian and US holdings are totalled separately. Nothing is converted or combined, so each total reflects what is actually held in that currency.
Prototype
Try the Main Flow
Tap through the phone prototype: open SHOP from the dashboard, then view its history. The tab bar and the CAD/USD switch are live.
01Import a CSV on the welcome screen.
02On the dashboard, switch CAD / USD, then tap SHOP in Top Movers.
03Tap Historical Context to see the eight earlier jumps.
04Go back with the arrow, a swipe from the left edge, or Esc. The tab bar works too.

The wordmark is a lowercase “spyhop” set in Geist, with the o drawn as a black-and-white orca leaping in an arc out of blue water. A pale ice halo keeps the orca legible on dark backgrounds, and a simplified version is used at small sizes.
